Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

5 Year Limited Warranty Against Manufacturing Defects in the Plastic Hull of Select Kayaks

This warranty applies only to kayaks purchase from Dream Kayaks during the periods shown below. It applies only to the plastic hull of the kayak, not to fittings or parts.

  • The Beast Kayak: 26/10/2016 to present.
  • Siren Kayak: 16/10/2017 to present (includes Siren XL).
  • Dream Catcher 3 Kayak: 07/02/2018 to 31/07/2019. (Ten year warranty began 01/08/2019 for this model only).
  • Dream Catcher 4 Kayak: 07/02/2018 to present.
  • Werewolf 10X Kayak: 08/02/2018 to present.
  • War Horse Motor Kayak: 08/02/2018 to present.
  • Gremlin 9X Kayak: 15/02/2018 to 09/08/2019. (Ten year warranty began 10/08/2019 for this model).

No other kayak models we sell are covered by the 5 year limited warranty on the hull.

Certain actions and activities will void this warranty. To keep the warranty valid you must follow the Kayak Care Essentials shown here.

This warranty is effective for kayaks purchased during the periods specified above. It applies only to kayaks purchased directly from Dream Kayaks on or after these dates, and it applies only to the specified models.

This warranty means the plastic hull of your kayak will be free of any manufacturing defects in workmanship and materials for five years from the day of purchase if and only if you follow our kayak care instructions, and if it is not we will replace it, refund it, or repair it for you. This warranty does not apply to fixtures, fittings, parts or gear, purchased with the kayak regardless of whether the gear was purchased as part of a kayak package deal or individually.

This warranty shall be effective from the date of purchase via our website or a Dream Kayaks shop. Claims can only be made under this warranty by the person who originally purchased the kayak. Once the original seller transfers ownership of the kayak to another person the warranty is void. The purchase receipt or invoice must be provided with other claim details.

In the event that a claim against this warranty is granted, Dream Kayaks reserves the right to choose whether the final warranty resolution is repair, replacement or refund.

When a customer successfully makes a claim under this warranty, and Dream Kayaks elects to bring the kayak back to a Dream Kayaks facility (i.e., shop or affiliated warehouse) the customer is responsible for arranging transport of the kayak back to the Dream Kayaks facility and this transport is to be arranged at the customer's expense. In the event that Dream Kayaks elects to replace kayak deemed by Dream Kayaks to be faulty, the customer will be required to collect the replacement kayak from a Dream Kayaks facility. Any transportation of the replacement kayak back to the location of a customer will be arranged at the expense of the customer.

When you receive your goods we expect you to inspect them before use. Where a fault is clearly visible we expect you to report it to us BEFORE YOU USE THE GOODS. If you report a fault that is clearly visible after using the goods we will assume the fault was caused by usage, meaning the warranty would not apply to said fault.

This warranty does not apply if the damage or fault is caused by one of the following activities or phenomena.

  •     normal wear and tear,
  •     abuse or poor maintenance,
  •     any alterations or modifications (other than those carried out by Dream Kayaks),
  •     poor storage or anchorage,
  •     transportation of kayaks,
  •     failure to follow procedures and instructions provided on our website at https://www.dreamkayaks.com.au/kayak-care/
  •     commercial use of kayaks, such as kayak hire or/and the like;
  •     a freight company, other than the first delivery of the kayak from a Dream Kayaks facility to the customer immediately after purchase. We do cover damage caused by the freight company during the first delivery immediately after purchase, if and only if that delivery was arranged by us and paid directly by Dream Kayaks. No other subsequent damage caused by freight is covered,
  •     use of the kayak for unusual activities or any activity other than kayaking, kayak fishing, and storage.
